المياه الزرقاء هو مرض يصيب العين عبارة عن ارتفاع ضغط السائل المائي داخل العين مما يؤدي إلى اتلاف تدريجي بالعصب البصري، وإهماله قد يؤدي للعمى.

سميت المياه الزرقاء بهذا الاسم لأنه في بعض الحالات الحادة أو الخلقية يتحول لون حدقة العين إلى لون مائل للأزرق، ولكن هذا لا يحدث في الجلوكوما المزمنة

خطورة المرض تكمن في عدم وجود أعراض واضحة، لذلك يتأخر الكثيرون في الإحساس بالمشكلة وعلاجها.

يتم تشخيص المياه الزرقاء عن طريق الكشف الدوري والفحص الدقيق للعصب البصري أثناء فحص قاع العين، وفي بعض الحالات نلجأ لفحص مجال الإبصار أيضًا.

علاج المياه الزرقاء يختلف من حالة لأخرى، حيث يمكن الاعتماد بالكامل على الأدوية والقطرات المخفضة لضغط العين ويداوم عليها المريض مدى الحياة، أو علاجها بالليزر
